Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev said on Wednesday that the ministry believes it is possible to lift restrictions on gasoline exports because fuel prices are stable, the Interfax news agency reported.
The ministry has sent its proposals on gasoline export restrictions to the government, the RIA news agency reported.
"We will lift the export restrictions now, because everything is stable in terms of prices, the situation on the market is stable, so the restrictions can be lifted, as they were imposed to stabilize prices on the domestic market," the minister was quoted as saying.
Russia extended gasoline export restrictions until the end of the year in August.
Russia's largest gasoline producers in 2023 are Gazprom Neft's Omsk refinery, Lukoil's Norsei refinery in Nizhny Novgorod and Rosneft's Ryazan refinery.
Russia produced 43.9 million tonnes of gasoline in 2023, exporting about 5.76 million tonnes, or about 13% of its output.
The largest importers of Russian gasoline are mainly African countries, including Nigeria, Libya and Tunisia.
