The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday the successful launch of three military satellites from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, located in the northwest of Russia, at the beginning of 2023.
According to the ministry, "Plesetsk Cosmodrome launch crews deployed three military satellites using Soyuz-2 space vehicles."
The statement further noted, "Specialists at the Titov Main Test and Control Space Center oversaw the launch of 13 space rockets from the Plesetsk, Vostochny, and Baikonur launch facilities, delivering 55 spacecraft into orbit," as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
It's worth noting that October 4th marks the celebration of Space Forces Day in Russia, commemorating the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, PS-1, on October 4, 1957.
This historic event took place at Research Test Site No. 5, later known as the Baikonur Cosmodrome, operated by the Ministry of Defense of the Soviet Union.
The satellite was launched using the Sputnik rocket, based on the intercontinental ballistic missile R-7.
