Russia praised on Thursday the "Reasonable" decision of Fayez Sarraj to retract resignation as the head of the Government of the National Accord (GNA), in order not to create a "political vacuum" by stepping down, according to Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.
In press statements, Bogdanov said, "Many have asked him, the Libyans and foreigners, so as not to create a power vacuum. He wanted to resign by the end of October with an understanding that there will be someone to transfer power to so that there would be no vacuum, which is logical and reasonable."
Earlier this week, the German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas called on Al-Sarraj, to continue performing his duties throughout this initial period of the Libyan dialogue.
This came during a phone call between Mass and Sarraj, in which they discussed the latest developments in Libya.
The German minister said, during the call, that Al-Sarraj, remaining in his position is a ‘serious matter’ to ensure the continuity in steering the Libyan government during this essential period.
