The Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport (Rosaviatsiya) extended restrictions on flights to 11 airports in the southern and central part of the country until July 30.
"Restrictions on flights to 11 airports in the southern and central part of Russia have been extended until July 30, 2022," the press service of the agency announced in a statement on Friday.
Flights to the airports of Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol, and Elista are temporarily restricted, according to the agency.
Russia closed part of its airspace in the country’s southern and central part for civil aircraft on February 24, 2022 amid the special military operation in Ukraine.
Moscow has recently lifted restrictions on crossing its land border that were introduced during the COVID-19 hike in 2020, according to the anti-coronavirus crisis centre.
“Following the results of the crisis centre’s discussion, a decision was made to lift the epidemic-related temporary restrictions on crossing the state border of the Russian Federation starting on July 15, 2022."
Last June, the Russian government decided to lift the restrictions on foreign citizens entering Moscow through the air and maritime checkpoints yet a number of restrictions on land arrivals continued to be in effect.
The country introduced the restrictions in March 2020 over the threat of coronavirus infection.
