Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) extended, on Saturday, the flights restrictions in a number of cities in southern and central Russia until March 14.
"Until March 14, 2022, 03:45 Moscow time, the temporary restrictions on the operation of airports in a number of cities in southern and central Russia has been extended," the agency announced in a statement.
"Flights are temporarily restricted to the following airports: Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol, Elista," it added.
The Federal Air Transport Agency has urged airlines to use alternative routes through the airports of Sochi, Volgograd, Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol and Moscow to transport passengers to closed airports.
"Flights by Russian airlines to Kaliningrad are on schedule. Russian airlines use air routes through the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea to fly to this region. The flight time has increased, therefore changes in the flight schedule are possible," the statement reads.
Russia has previously suspended domestic flights to and from a number of airports till March 2 due to its military operations in Ukraine.
Russian troops invaded Ukraine and crossed its borders into the eastern cities of Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Luhansk despite international calls for a peaceful resolution of the crisis.
