In a meeting with the Russian community in Egypt, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Special Ambassador, emphasized that Russia does not seek to expand its territory.
He stated that the military operation in Ukraine is aimed at protecting national security, as aggression began when NATO decided to backtrack on its commitments and promises, expanding eastward towards our borders.
The meeting was attended by Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko, Murad Jatin, Director of Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, and a delegation from the Association of Russian and Soviet University Graduates, headed by Sherif Jad.
Borisenko reiterated that the purpose of the meeting was to update the Russian community in Egypt on the latest developments in Ukraine, ensuring constant communication with homeland affairs.
Miroshnik addressed various inquiries from the Russian community and graduates regarding the situation in Ukraine.
He indicated that the influx of Western and American weapons to the Ukrainian army would not change the situation.
He emphasized the Russian forces' complete control of the situation, dealing with Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory, most of which have been thwarted so far.
Even if some incursions breach Russian airspace, they would not alter the military operation's course.
Regarding the presence of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, Miroshnik affirmed that Western threats to our national security prompted Russia to take this step.
Sherif Jad highlighted the meeting with Ambassador Rudolf Miroshnik as beneficial, shedding light on recent developments in the Ukrainian war. It's essential to receive information directly rather than through third parties, he noted.
Fathi Tugan, the Secretary-General, expressed graduates' welcome to such meetings for further communication and exchanging views on international issues.
