Russia Denies Reports of Secret Negotiations with Ukraine Amid Alleged Attacks on Civilian InfrastructureRussia has denied claims published by the American newspaper "The Washington Post," which suggested that a Ukrainian attack on Kursk disrupted secret negotiations in Doha between Russia and Kyiv to prevent attacks on energy infrastructure.
Russia confirmed that it is not engaged in any negotiations with Kyiv.
"Nothing was disrupted because there is nothing to disrupt. We have not conducted and are not conducting any direct or indirect negotiations with the Kyiv regime regarding the security of civilian sites and critical infrastructure," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated in a press briefing, according to "Russia Today".
She added that the threat to the Zaporizhzhia and Kursk nuclear power plants comes solely from Ukraine, the United States, and their supporters.
Zakharova emphasized that "Russian forces do not target civilian sites in Ukraine but are doing everything possible to protect these sites from strikes by the Ukrainian army, which uses Western weapons, to avoid a man-made catastrophe."
