Russia Criticizes US Bill Concerning Ukraine, Warns of Direct Confrontations with NATO

Russia on Friday criticized a US Senate draft resolution classifying any use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine as an attack on NATO countries.

But h, the Russian ambassador to Washington called the move a "provocation" and warned of an escalation in tensions.

On Friday, the Russian news agency "TASS" quoted the Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, as saying that "speculation about Russia's possible use of tactical nuclear weapons is absurd," stressing that Moscow is a "responsible nuclear power."

Antonov considered that "the bipartisan draft resolution submitted to the Senate on responding to the threat of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus" is another manifestation of blind hatred for Russia.

The Russian diplomat criticized the US senators who proposed the draft resolution, saying that "the American elite shows absolute ignorance in the strategic field," explaining that Russia's deployment of costly nuclear weapons in Belarus was based on legal grounds and did not constitute any breach of any international obligations.
