The United States, France, and other Western countries' efforts to pressure African nations should be condemned, spokesperson for the Russian Kremlin Dmitry Peskov said.
In response to journalists' questions, Peskov highlighted that African countries faced unprecedented pressures from the US, France, and other Western nations, aimed at obstructing the "Russian-African Summit."
"We believe that such a stance by the United States, France, and other countries should be condemned. It is truly deserving of condemnation because they do not allow African nations their sovereign right to independently choose partners, expand cooperation and interaction in various fields, and discuss current issues," Peskov remarked.
Earlier on Tuesday, Oleg Ozerov, the Special Envoy of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the head of the Secretariat of the "Russia-Africa Partnership Forum," stated that developing relations with Russia does not prevent African countries from cooperating with Western countries.
He emphasized that strengthening ties with Moscow does not mean Africa must choose between Russia and the West.
"We treat our African partners as equals, based on the principle of sovereign equality of states, unlike many Western countries who treat their partners as teachers treat underperforming students," Ozerov added.
