The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that 31 officials, journalists, and public figures from New Zealand have been barred from entering Moscow.
The ministry noted that this step was made “in response to the new sanctions imposed by New Zealand's government against Russian private individuals and legal entities.”
Furthermore, it added that the sanctions were imposed on New Zealanders who support Ukraine and promote "an anti-Russian agenda."
In December 2022, New Zealand imposed its latest round of sanctions against 23 Russian citizens, indicating that they are "behind disinformation campaigns."
On his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin recently asserted that he had "no doubt" Moscow would achieve victory in Ukraine, despite military setbacks in the nearly year-long offensive.
"From the standpoint of the end result and victory, which is unavoidable, there are several things that have not gone anywhere and that lie at the foundation of our victory,” Putin said during his visit to the Obukhov State Plant.
The leader highlighted the victory’s factors, including the unity and solidarity of the Russian people, and the bravery of troops in the special military operation and on the frontline.
