Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree prohibiting government agencies and strategic organizations from using cybersecurity services provided by "unfriendly" countries.
The decree, which amends existing measures to ensure the nation's information security, extends the ban to cover all cybersecurity services from these nations.
This new measure builds on the previous prohibition, which applied specifically to information protection systems (IPS) from unfriendly countries and their companies.
The decree stipulates that the ban will come into effect on January 1, 2025. Until then, the use of cybersecurity services from these nations remains restricted.
The decree was signed following a discussion on information security between Putin and permanent members of the Security Council on June 3.
By taking this step, Russia seeks to safeguard its digital infrastructure from potential threats posed by services originating from countries it deems unfriendly.
