Russia fully supports Zimbabwe’s aspiration to join the BRICS bloc, Russian Ambassador to Harare Nikolay Krasilnikov told The Herald in an interview.
Krasilnikov affirmed that Zimbabwe’s foreign policy—“a friend to all and an enemy to none”—aligns with the values of BRICS.
According to TV BRICS, he noted Russia’s willingness to support Zimbabwe’s pathway into the group, whether as an observer, an invited participant at a future summit, or by seeking entry into the New Development Bank.
In addition to endorsing BRICS membership, the ambassador also voiced support for Zimbabwe’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027–2028.
Zimbabwe has already submitted an official application to join BRICS, following recent diplomatic efforts including a visit by its Foreign Minister Frederick Shava to Moscow.
