Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russia keenness in assisting in calming the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Russia also welcomes the independent steps taken by both parties.
During a press briefing, Peskov stated that Yerevan and Baku are capable of continuing negotiations independently until a final resolution is reached, emphasizing that Moscow will continue to support these self-driven efforts.
Peskov’s remarks came in response to a statement by Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan, who suggested that Russia’s involvement in the settlement between Yerevan and Baku was “unlikely” due to “bad memories” associated with past experiences.
The Kremlin spokesperson reaffirmed Russia’s stance, stressing that “the most important thing is to maintain stability and peace in the South Caucasus region, transforming it into an area of prosperity and cooperation.”
