After counting 98.28 percent of the votes, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's coalition seemed on its way to achieving the relative majority by winning 322 seats in the 600-seat parliament, after it was found that the results were much better for the ruling coalition than expected in most opinion polls.
Preliminary results of the parliamentary elections published by the Turkish news agency " Anadolu " indicated that the Justice and Development Party advanced by 35.41 percent of the vote.
The Republican People's Party came in second with 25.39 percent, followed by the National Movement Party with 10.05 percent.
According to the Anadolu Agency, 24 political parties and 151 independent candidates ran for the general elections.
Some political parties entered the elections with five coalitions: the "Alliance of the Public", "The Nation's Alliance", "The Ata (the Grandfathers) Alliance", "The Labor and Freedom Alliance" and the "Union of Socialist Forces".
According to the numbers, the Nation Alliance, led by the opposition Republican People's Party, will win 212 seats, while the Labor and Freedom Alliance will have 66 seats.
