During a public hearing before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that his country does not play the role of a neutral mediator in the Ukrainian crisis.
Commenting on the progress of negotiations to resolve the crisis, the Secretary pointed out that Washington cannot be considered a neutral mediator in resolving the conflict in Ukraine due to its overt support for the Kyiv regime.
"Let's be clear, based on what has been mentioned previously, we are not, frankly, neutral mediators in this war," Rubio added.
Rubio noted that the United States cannot be regarded as an "honest or neutral broker" because it has publicly sided with one party over the other by continuing to supply Ukraine with weapons and military equipment, and imposing severe sanctions on Russia.
He further explained that the United States continues to openly support Ukraine, including through the supply of weapons and military hardware.
"We do not supply Russia with weapons; we only supply Ukraine with weapons. We do not impose sanctions on Ukraine; we only impose sanctions on Russia. Therefore, we have clearly chosen the side we support [in this conflict]," Rubio said.
