US Senator Bernie Sanders called on Congress to reject the $10.1 billion military aid package for Israel, which has not yet been approved.
The Russia Today (RT) website reported that Jewish Senator Sanders, who represents the state of Vermont for the Democratic Party, said that "the American taxpayer must not continue to be complicit in destroying the lives of innocent men, women and children in Gaza."
He added, "It is true that the war began with an attack launched by Hamas, but the Israeli military response was disproportionate, immoral, and violated international law - while it was carried out using American munitions."
In his speech before Congress last December, Sanders stressed that the United States should not provide another $10 billion to the far-right government of Benjamin Netanyahu to continue its war against the Palestinian people.
However, aid packages separate from the budget, allocated by the US administration in total to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and others, worth $106 billion, are still stuck in Congress, which refuses to vote on them due to differences between Republicans and Democrats.
