Systematic shelling and drone strikes by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continue to target civilian objects and vital facilities in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State. Field sources reported a fresh wave of attacks in the early hours of Friday, marking an escalation in the targeting of educational and medical services.
Repeated Strikes on University and Medical Supplies
The RSF launched a coordinated attack using suicide drones, specifically targeting the halls of the University of Kordofan for the second time. The strikes hit the same facilities previously damaged in earlier bombardments. Additionally, the assault extended to a pharmaceutical supply center and a residential home in the Riyadh al-Salihin neighborhood.
Local defense forces successfully intercepted and downed nine suicide drones during the raid. While two of the drones failed to explode upon impact, specialized teams are currently working to secure the affected sites. Despite the deliberate nature of the strikes on crowded service areas, field reports confirmed that no human casualties were recorded in the latest El Obeid attacks.
Escalation in the Blue Nile Region
The violence was not limited to North Kordofan. Local sources in the Blue Nile region reported that an RSF drone targeted a girls' primary school in the Qaysan district. While no injuries were reported at the school, the attack has sparked further concern over the safety of educational institutions.
In a separate incident on Saturday morning, the RSF targeted the Qoz Wad al-Habashi area in the Kurmuk locality of the Blue Nile region with additional drone strikes.
The persistent targeting of schools, universities, and medical supply chains highlights the growing humanitarian risk to civilians as the conflict in Sudan continues to impact essential infrastructure across multiple states.
