The British Royal Family marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II on April 21, 2026, with a series of commemorative events honoring her life, service, and enduring legacy across the United Kingdom.

The day’s observances began with a visit by King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the exhibition “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style” at The King’s Gallery.

Curated by the Royal Collection Trust, the exhibition showcases more than 300 items from the late Queen’s wardrobe, tracing her life from childhood through her reign, including her wedding and coronation dresses.

In a personal message broadcast on the centenary, King Charles III paid tribute to his mother’s legacy, describing her reign as one defined by steadfast dedication and service.

He reflected on her influence across generations and reaffirmed his own commitment to duty, echoing her belief in creating a better future.

Later in the day, members of the Royal Family gathered at the British Museum to view final design proposals for the Queen Elizabeth Memorial.

The presentation included a scale model by renowned architect Norman Foster, alongside contributions from leading artists commissioned to create sculptures for the project.

Meanwhile, Anne, Princess Royal officially opened the Queen Elizabeth II Garden at The Regent’s Park.

Designed as a peaceful and accessible space, the garden features environmentally conscious landscaping and areas for reflection, commemorating the late monarch’s life and service.

The day concluded with a reception hosted at Buckingham Palace, where the King and Queen welcomed representatives from charities and organizations associated with Queen Elizabeth II’s patronages.

The event also honored individuals celebrating their own 100th birthdays, offering a moment of shared reflection on a life that left a profound mark on the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and the wider world.
