Today, Alexandria witnessed a natural phenomenon called "water towering", due to the weather fluctuations that the governorate is exposed to.

The Meteorological Authority stated that the water towering is a natural phenomenon that often occurs when cold air passes over warm water.

As a result, a little column of air and fog saturated with water gets formed.

The authority added that the water column is less dull than the hurricane, and sometimes it causes cause strong winds, which may harm ships and boats.

The phenomenon caused heavy rains that flooded many streets, including the Corniche and Abu Qir roads, which led to traffic jam.

The Alexandria Sewerage Company provided 73 cars to siphon the rainwater from streets and squares.
