Badr Abdel-Atty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, met today with Abdallah Bou Habib, Lebanon's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, during the Rome MED Dialogues forum.
Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that discussions centered on the latest developments in Lebanon, including ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire.
In this regard, Abdel-Atty reiterated Egypt's support for strengthening Lebanon's national institutions, particularly the Lebanese army, and emphasized the importance of fully implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701 by all parties involved.
Abdel-Atyty highlighted Egypt’s commitment to aiding Lebanon during its critical period, referencing the delivery of 21 tons of food supplies and relief materials on November 13 to support displaced individuals.
He also called for the urgent election of a Lebanese president through national consensus, free from external interference, to resolve the prolonged presidential vacancy crisis.
Additionally, FM underscored Cairo's persistent efforts, both bilaterally and through the Quintet Committee on Lebanon, to address and resolve Lebanon's political and economic challenges.
