Rihanna called on fans to support Lebanon after the devastating blast that ripped through Beirut on August 4, killing at least 171 people and wounding over 6,000, as well as leaving dozens listed missing.

Rihanna urged fans on social media to donate and assist in the emergency response to Beirut.

“Beirut has recently experienced a very devastating explosion that has left many people dead, injured, displaced from homes, families sleeping in the streets with their children and hospitals overcrowded due to the influx of injured patients seeking immediate medical attention,” she wrote on Twitter.

Many celebrities had shed light on the Beirut blast and its many disasters. Their posts can go a long way in getting donations. Rihanna has 98 million followers on Twitter alone.

Furthermore, other celebrities and prominent figures such as Geroge and Amal Clooney, Bella Hadid, and The Weeknd have made generous donations to International and Lebanese charities working to help Beirut residents on the ground, such as the Lebanese Red Cross.

On August 4, two huge explosions rocked Port of Beirut, shaking buildings all over Lebanon’s capital.

According to Lebanon’s Interior Ministry, a fire was started by welding work and caused the detonation of more than 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate, which had been stored in the port for six years after being seized by the customs service.

On Wednesday, Lebanese President Michel Aoun said that losses from the devastating blast caused more than $15 billion in damages.

According to the Internal Security Forces Directorate of Lebanon, nearly 4,000 buildings were partially or completely destroyed by the blast.
