The Russian Federation Council (RFC) warned that the West attempts to discredit the elections to the State Duma (Parliament)  in the eighth session in Russia.

According to the council’s statement, the West looks forward to achieving far-reaching goals - during the presidential elections in 2024, the change of power in Russia, and the foundations of its domestic and foreign policy.

The RFC issued its annual report on the Russian Federation Council Committee for the Protection of State Sovereignty that warned of this type of counterproductive measure by the West seeks to achieve long-term goals against Russia and its political system.

The main goal is to change the political system in Russia, the foundations of its domestic and foreign policy, to make our country suitable for external control, during the presidential elections in 2024.

Western governments do not want the security and prosperity of the peoples of Russia but are trying to contain and weaken the Russian Federation as much as possible.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that "it is possible to introduce a new concept of Russia's foreign policy at the beginning of 2022."

Lavrov declared, "There is a possibility of a major conflict accumulating in relations between Russia and the West."

After the results of the expanded meeting of the Russian Foreign Ministry with the participation of President Vladimir Putin, Lavrov told reporters: "We talked, of course, about our relations with Western countries, where severe conflict potentials are accumulating.

Lavrov stressed that the West does not want to conduct business on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, and does not want to seek a balance of interests.

The West wants exclusively to promote its own vision of solving a particular problem.

Lavrov pointed out that "the West's attempts to impose its vision of the regime on the rest of the world are useless."

He noted  that "Washington should be aware that Kiev is waiting for a provocation from the West against Moscow that requires an inevitable Russian response."
