The Egyptian Suez Canal Authority succeeded in re-floating a large ship that disrupted navigation in the canal one hour and 16 minutes after it ran aground, the shipping company Leth Agencies said on Thursday.

The company stated that the ship "Xin Hai Tong 23" is a bulk carrier with a length of 190 meters.

The shipping agent had announced that a ship had run aground in the Suez Canal in Egypt, "leaving behind" at least four ships, according to Reuters.

The company added that the tugboats were able to refloat the ship called "Shin Hai Tong 23".

There was no immediate comment from the channel authorities.

"Shin Hai Tong 23 ran aground in the Suez Canal at km 159, 0400 hours," Laith Agnes said in a tweet.

Marine Traffic's ship-tracking data showed that the vessel, which was flying the Hong Kong flag, was unable to move near the southern end of the canal and parked at an angle next to the eastern side of the canal.
