Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting have unveiled the teaser trailer for “Return to Silent Hill,” the third live-action feature adaptation of Konami’s seminal horror video game franchise — and the first in over a decade.

In the footage, Jeremy Irvine plays James Sunderland as he ventures into the haunted town of Silent Hill and runs through dark corridors, a burning building, and escapes the killer Pyramid Head.

Hannah Emily Anderson also features in the cast as Mary Crane.

“Return to Silent Hill” sees director Christopher Gans return to the franchise, after helming the first “Silent Hill” movie, released in 2006.

A sequel, “Silent Hill: Revelation,” was directed by M. J. Bassett and released in 2012.

Gans co-wrote “Return to Silent Hill” with Sandra Vo-Anh and William Josef Schneider.

Cineverse has shared that the new entry is intended as “a faithful adaptation of the video game ‘Silent Hill 2,'” which was released by Konami in 2001. After growing into a classic of the genre, a remake was released in 2024.

The “Silent Hill” franchise first launched on PlayStation in 1999, spawning three sequels over the next five years.

While other entries and spin-offs have followed, that initial run is largely regarded among video game players as one of the most iconic and atmospheric achievements among survival horror titles.

“Return to Silent Hill” is produced by Victor Hadida of Davis Films, Molly Hassell of Hassell Free Production and David Wulf.

The horror sequel has set a theatrical release for January.
