Egyptian media reported on Friday that the pressure exerted by Cairo on all parties succeeded in restoring the flow of fuel to the Gaza Strip for the second day in a row.
Cairo News Channel (CNC) reported that approximately 150,000 liters of diesel are currently being brought from the Rafah crossing to hospitals in Gaza, stressing that Egyptian pressure has succeeded in increasing the volume of aid to the Strip.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Refugees (UNRWA) had announced at a time when it needed 160,000 liters of fuel for its operations in Gaza, while only 23,000 had been obtained under conditions.
In the same context, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed by telephone with Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of UNRWA, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, and the efforts made by UNRWA to allocate new headquarters for it to be able to resume its duties.
The Commissioner-General of UNRWA expressed his deep concern as a result of the worsening scale of the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, and the increasing challenges faced by relief agencies, centers, and medical personnel, which hinder their ability to carry out their tasks.
