American “Axios” website reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden has discussed with its European and Israeli partners in recent weeks a proposal for an interim agreement with Iran, which includes easing some sanctions in exchange for Tehran freezing parts of its nuclear program, according to ten Israeli officials and diplomats. Westerners and American experts are familiar with the proposal.

The site indicated that the new approach of the Biden administration shows how concerned the United States is about the recent progress in Iran's nuclear program.

It added that the United States did not rule out the diplomatic approach to reaching an agreement, to return to the 2015 nuclear deal, but it did exclude it from the agenda last year, due to Iran's military assistance to Russia, and Tehran's suppression of anti-government protests.

According to the American website, the Biden administration began discussing the new approach last January, and briefed its allies in Israel, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom on it last February, according to the ten informed sources.

The proposal discussed included easing some sanctions if Iran freezes some of its nuclear activities, and essentially stops enriching uranium by 60%, according to four Israeli officials, Western diplomats, and American experts.
