Al-Hayah network announced that the board of directors decided to halt media presenter Reham Saeed and her TV program "Sabaya" against the background of a recent episode in which she described an obese women as a burden on society.

The decision made it clear that the halt will resume until the Supreme Council of Media's investigation ends.

On its part, Al-Hayah network confirmed that it pays all respects to its viewers and vows to provide appropriate content to them.

In the meantime, the Media Syndicate said in a statement on Friday that it decided to hold an emergency meeting to discuss Saeed's recent statements, out of its duty to counter any attempts that promote discrimination between citizens.

The statement added that the meeting also comes following the report of the Monitoring and Follow-up Committee on the statements of the Sabaya program, which included inappropriate phrases that bear humiliation for Egyptian women.

In February 2018, Saeed was jailed over charges of inciting child abduction and selling through her TV show, Sabaya el-Kheir, aired by the privately owned channel Al Nahar. In October 2015, Saeed’s show, Sabaya el-Kheir, faced suspension and she was investigated for using private pictures for a sexual harassment victim and airing it in her show.
