Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, received Dr. Mohamed Mustafa, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat on 6 February.

Gamal Roshdy, the official spokesman for the Secretary-General, stated that the meeting focused on the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause amid the grave threats it faces, particularly the scenario of displacement, which is categorically rejected both at the Arab and international levels.

He added that Mr. Aboul Gheit and Dr. Mustafa underscored the unified Arab stance against any attempt to undermine the fundamental principles of the Palestinian cause, foremost among them the right of the Palestinian people to remain on their land and exercise self-determination.

The spokesman further noted that Mr. Aboul Gheit attentively listened to a detailed and comprehensive briefing by the Palestinian Prime Minister on the plans and programmes being pursued to address the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. These efforts aim to implement urgent relief measures and early recovery initiatives as a prelude to reconstruction.

Quoting Mr. Aboul Gheit, Roshdy stated that the success of these plans hinges on the steadfast presence of the Palestinian people on their land.

He affirmed that the immediate priority is to establish a ceasefire, facilitate the entry of emergency humanitarian aid, and assist the population in gradually restoring normal life to thwart the Israeli strategy of rendering Gaza uninhabitable.

Roshdy highlighted that recent remarks by the Israeli Prime Minister, in which he referred to the so-called voluntary exit of Gaza’s population, expose the true nature and objectives of Israel’s plans.

He reaffirmed that the Palestinian people will not allow a second Nakba under the guise of voluntary or forced displacement.
