SEE News recalled the story of one of the bravest Yemeni journalists who worked hard to reveal the terror, and violence of the Houthis, Mohamed Abdo Al Absi.

This was disclosed during a seminar, hosted by SEE News, about the torture that Yemeni journalists suffered from the Houthis. Notably, Al Absi's sister, Qobool Al Absi attended the seminar.

The event was attended by two journalists who were kidnapped by the terrorist group: Haitham Al-Shehab, and Essam Balghaith, alongside activist Wesam Basindowah, and others.

She spoke about the suffering, and torture the journalists face in Yemen. In addition, she concentrated on the pain and violence victims' families have every day.  Her family was threatened a lot, alongside hundred of violations by security forces, and continued observation.

The Journalist was killed by the terrorist group in 2016. Born in 1983, Al Absi began his career as journalist in 2002 at the culture's section at "Al Thawra" newspaper. Then, he held various positions in journalism career such as a board member at "El Estethmar" magazine in 2006, and the advisor of "El Ahali" newspaper in 2007.

He also directed several successful and bold journalistic investigations like corruption, poor medical care, and services afforded to the revolution of the youth in 2011 injured and martyrs. In addition, he wrote about various topics related to human rights.

Regarding his career as an author, the journalist left behind various books such as "Wahidan Ka El Katra, Gameeha Amtaar," "Ee'daam Kotob," and "Bal."

In this sense, he faced a lot of opposition from the authorities and the Yemeni army during his career, beside his attacking discourse against the Houthis and their violations in the market of oil, and Yemeni national economy, flotation, as well as an illegal business.

He also succeeded in finding important secret documents that expose the relationship between Houthis, and oil trade in Yemen which resulted in assassinating him.

However, his family asserted that he was killed after the latest examination of the body revealed that that cause of death was asphyxiation by carbon monoxide.

In the same context, the family members affirmed that they had various threats, and faced a lot oppression as they call for a fair investigation of Al Absi's murder. The case is still under investigation regardless of the filed reports submitted by the family.
