Sources stated that Zidane’s assistant David Bettoni will take charge of the team for their trip to Alaves on Saturday night.
Zidane has to comply with the stringent health criteria, which means he will immediately enter a period of quarantine and will only be allowed to return to the club when he tests negative.
The pressure has intensified on Zidane after a humiliating defeat to third-tier Spanish side Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night.
Asked if he still has the support of his players after the defeat, he said: “I think so but you have to ask them."
“We have done good things, not so much lately, but apart from the last games we did good things this season," he added. “We have to concentrate on the things that can be done. When you lose, you always talk."
“I take responsibility and whatever has to happen, will happen. I am very calm, the players wanted to win the game," the Real Madrid manager stressed. “They try and sometimes different things happen. You have to assume responsibility. I am going to assume it, as always."
