A rare missing painting for 200 years appeared in an auction house in France. Estimated at 1.5 million Euro, the artwork will go under the hammer next June.
Entitled "The Philosopher," the artwork hadn't been seen in public for at least two centuries. It was painted by leading French artist Jean Honoré Fragonard.
It was discovered hanging on a wall of one of the well-known French art collectors with a golden frame by a famous art expert working for the Enchères-Champagne auction house.
This rare artwork is not the first one to suddenly appear in a French auction house, last Thursday a rare painting by Vincent Van Gogh has been fitched for $15 million at the prestigious Sotheby auction house.
"Street Scene in Montmartre” hadn't been seen in public for at least 100 years.
