A rare Blue Moon will shine on 31 October which marks Halloween celebrations universally. It is the first time for the Blue Moon or the Full Moon to occur amid Halloween since 1944!

The Blue Moon sky event is a magnificent one, it means that the same month witnesses two full moons.

The first full moon of October shone on 1 October while the second will enlighten the sky on 31 making this Halloween 2020 an extra special night.

In addition, a full moon on Halloween happens every 19 years making the next Halloween full moon in October 2039.

Regarding the Blue Moon event, it will still retain its same whitish-yellow color and it happens every year but average every 2.5 to 3 years.

Full Moons names, in general, are taken from the Native American culture as native American tribes linked between each full moon and the time it shines for example January's one is called "Wolf Moon" due to the rise of wolves howls.

June's one is called Strawberry Moon as, in North America, the harvesting of strawberries in June gives that month's full moon its name. Europeans have dubbed it the rose moon, while other cultures named it the hot moon for the beginning of the summer heat.
