Rapid Support Forces Announce Control of Republican Palace in Khartoum, 3 Airports

Today, Saturday, the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan announced that they had taken control of the Republican Palace in the capital, Khartoum, and 3 airports.

The forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo said, in a statement, that they were able to "take full control of the Republican Palace, Khartoum Airport, Marawi, and Al-Obeid airports, and a number of locations in other states."

The statement added: "In response to the attack launched by a force of the Armed Forces this morning, Saturday, on our forces present in the land of the camps in Soba, and because of this infringement, which the Rapid Support Forces confronted with all valor and sacrifice, the following sites were fully controlled: the Republican Palace, the guest house, and the arrest of The attacking force, taking control of Khartoum Airport, Meroe and Al-Obeid, controlling a number of locations in the states.

Clashes broke out on Saturday morning in Khartoum, between the army forces led by Lieut. Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces were loyal to his former ally, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, in a sudden transformation of the conflict between them into an armed conflict.
