Egypt has cancelled the rapid Covid test at Cairo International Airport, according to reports.

The test has been in application since last May among the precautionary measures imposed by the Egyptian government at that time.

Akhbar el-Yom has mentioned on Tuesday about the rapid Covid test case; indicating that the new procedure is based on a publication issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

They added; “This publication is cancelling working on rapid Covid test starting from Tuesday.” noting that the test was targeted at detecting the infected persons from countries with high infection rates before entering Egypt.

They also pointed out that the cancellation decision includes arrivals from the countries: India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, and Vietnam.

Akhbar el-Yom also mentioned that only a rapid Covid test will be applied to emergency situations and those involved in the gatherings before their arrival at the airport.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health statement includes land, sea and air borders. The Egyptian newspaper pointed out that arrivals will be required to perform a “PCR” analysis before entering the country for a period not exceeding 72 hours.
