Egyptian-American Oscar winner, Rami Malek told James Bond director, Cary Fukunga that he would not play a role of religious or ideological terrorist in the film.

Malek said in an exclusive interview to “the Mirror”, that he would not accept the role if the character had been an Arabic-speaking terrorist.

"It's a great character and I'm very excited. But that was one thing that I discussed with Cary,” Malek added.

"I said, 'We cannot identify him with any act of terrorism reflecting an ideology or a religion. That's not something I would entertain, so if that is why I am your choice then you can count me out.”

It is worthy to note that, Malek is strongly proud of his Egyptian roots, “I am Egyptian. I grew up listening to Egyptian music. I loved Omar Sharif,” Malek said in an interview last year.

"These are my people. I feel so gorgeously tied to the culture and the human beings who are existing there.” he added.
