Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, stated that the Iranian Resistance, which has been demanding freedom and peace for nearly five decades, welcomes any understanding or agreement aimed at ending the war and the tragedies endured by the Iranian people.

In a statement, Rajavi added that no one in Iran, except for the remnants of the Shah's regime and the ruling mullahs, ever wanted or continues to want this war.

Moreover, she explained that the pursuit of an atomic bomb, warmongering, and interference in the affairs of regional countries are core components of the ruling clerical regime's survival strategy, which it will not abandon as long as it is capable of maintaining them.

"War serves as a shield for this regime against popular uprisings. For them, peace and a ceasefire are akin to drinking 'poison,' as Khomeini once described it," Rajavi noted. "The overthrow of this regime remains the responsibility of the Iranian people and their organized resistance."

Rajavi concluded by emphasizing: "I reaffirm that any international agreement to end the war must include a halt to the execution of political prisoners and the killing of protesters."
