The Arab Cultural Club organized a symposium entitled “Rafik Hariri and the Lebanon of Tomorrow”, on the occasion of the eighteenth anniversary of the martyrdom of the former Lebanese Prime Minister (PM) Rafik Hariri.
Former Egypt Foreign Minister (FM) Amr Moussa participated as a keynote speaker and delivered a speech in which he said: “How happy I was, as I am honored to be invited to participate in this esteemed gathering in Lebanon’s celebration of the eighteenth anniversary of the martyrdom of a great man, a great Lebanese and a distinguished Arab, that is the martyr Rafik Hariri.
Moussa affirmed that this celebration reflects feelings of deep and continuous sadness over the departure of Hariri, who represents the lofty symbol of self-respect, pride in identity, and loyalty to the homeland and protecting its sovereignty and the prosperity of its citizens.”
Moussa indicated that Hariri's views reflected an accurate understanding of what was going on and an intelligent anticipation of what was to come.
But the late Lebanese PM did not give enough attention to his personal safety. He had the audacity to not accept the advice given by the highest international and regional authorities with complete caution.
Moussa also met on the sidelines of his visit with a number of Lebanese politicians, including Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, former President Amin Gemayel, head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, and head of the Progressive Socialist Party, MP Walid Jumblatt
