Under the title of "Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady Breaks Taboos," a glimpse of work nature of Ambassador Bassam Rady, the official spokesperson of the Egyptian Presidency, was disclosed.

Rady has not been chosen yet as SEENews’s Best Spokesperson of the Year 2019, but his name is on the top of the poll’s shortlist.

In October, 2017, Rady was appointed to be the presidential spokesperson. His first appearance was in France during the first official visit to Paris paid by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Rady was Egypt’s consul in Istanbul at the time of the Turkish coup d’etat attempt in 2016. He worked hard to protect the Egyptian community in Turkey after some of them were injured due to unrests in the country at that time.

Ankara blamed the coup attempt on Fethullah Gülen, a Turkish preacher who has lived in self-imposed exile in the US since 1999.

His father is Essam Rady, former Irrigation Minister.

During his service time at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was in charge of a counter- terrorism committee.

It’s noteworthy that SEENews’s Spokesperson of the Year 2019 Shortlist includes:

  • Ambassador Bassam Rady, the Official Spokesperson of the Presidency.
