The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) reaffirmed its global leadership and strategic importance on Sunday as it hosted a delegation of Egyptian diplomatic attachés for an in-depth field visit aimed at strengthening their understanding of one of the country’s most vital economic assets.

The visit, held at the Maritime Training and Simulation Academy in Ismailia, brought together participants from the 58th diplomatic attaché intake enrolled in a training program organized by the Military Academy in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The initiative forms part of a broader effort to equip emerging diplomatic cadres with comprehensive knowledge of Egypt’s national institutions and strategic infrastructure.

Chairman of the SCA, Osama Rabie, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of Egyptian diplomacy in promoting the country’s achievements abroad. He highlighted the role of diplomats in conveying an accurate and balanced image of Egypt’s economic progress and development trajectory.

Rabie underscored that the Suez Canal remains a cornerstone of global trade and a critical link between East and West, as well as a key pillar of Egypt’s national economy.

During the session, the SCA chief pointed to the canal’s ability to maintain its leading position despite ongoing regional and international challenges. He noted that the authority has demonstrated flexibility in adapting to rapidly evolving global conditions, thereby safeguarding supply chains and supporting international maritime trade.

He also outlined the authority’s long-term modernization roadmap under the “Leadership Strategy 2030,” which includes continued development of the navigation channel, modernization of the maritime fleet, and expansion of integrated shipping services.

The diplomatic delegation received detailed presentations covering the canal’s historical evolution, including the New Suez Canal project and the ongoing development of the southern sector. These projects, officials said, reflect Egypt’s capacity to manage and upgrade a critical maritime corridor in line with the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

As part of the visit, participants embarked on a tour through the New Suez Canal, observing navigation operations and the scale of recent expansions. The program concluded with a visit to the Suez Canal Museum, offering further insight into the waterway’s legacy and transformation.

In his closing remarks, Rabie urged the attachés to uphold a strong sense of national responsibility and professionalism in representing Egypt abroad. He stressed the importance of being well-versed in the country’s strengths and achievements in order to communicate them effectively and confidently on the global stage.
