Despite beating Cameroon in the semi-finals, Egypt national team manager Carlos Queiroz expressed his anger after being treated poorly throughout the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Pharaohs overcame tournament favourites Cameroon after a tense game that ended in a penalty shoot-out victory.

While the referee made a number of controversial decisions throughout the game, the biggest of which was the send-off of Egypt national team manager Carlos Queiroz.

Queiroz was shown two yellow cards for protesting against a number of Gassama’s decisions, resulting in him missing the tournament’s final against Senegal.

After the game, Queiroz pulled no punches speaking on the poor treatment the national team has been receiving since their arrival in Cameroon.

“Again, unfortunately, they send this type of referees to a game of this level, referees with no experience, no level, wanting to put on a show… It started right in the dressing room,” Queiroz told the press.

“We hadn’t started the game yet and he comes to the locker room to intimidate our staff. But even against this, against all the decisions, which were always against Egypt, we were the best team in the second half and on penalties.
