Queen Elizabeth II Celebrates 96th Birthday

On Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 96th birthday at her Royal place in Windsor Castle, therefore, the palace released a new portrait of the 96-year-old monarch.

The official account of the Royal Family said: "Taken last month in the grounds of Windsor Castle, The Queen is pictured with two of her fell ponies, Bybeck Katie and Bybeck Nightingale.

The photo depicted Queen Elizabeth II stands proudly between Bybeck Katie and Bybeck Nightingale, while wearing green cape-style coat.

"Happy Birthday Your Majesty!" the tweet concluded.

Members of the royal family were among the first to post birthday wishes to the queen on social media

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said on Facebook: "Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy 96th birthday today," adding: "an inspiration to so many across the UK, the Commonwealth and the world, it’s particularly special to be celebrating in this Platinum Jubilee year."

Also, the Crown Prince of the UK Charles, and his wife Duchess Camilla posted on Twitter, saying: "Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a particularly special 96th birthday today, as we celebrate her Platinum Jubilee year."
