Qatar has temporarily banned maritime activities, including recreational boating, fishing vessels and jet skis, following an incident that killed a Qatari citizen, according to the Ministry of Transport.
The suspension remains in effect until further notice and applies to all private marine craft, while vessels operating under international maritime conventions are exempt and may continue normal operations.
Authorities said the precautionary measure was introduced in coordination with security agencies after a maritime search operation located a delayed vessel carrying two people.
Qatar's Interior Ministry confirmed that a Qatari national was killed by shrapnel linked to military operations in the region, while another person of Arab nationality was injured and hospitalized in stable condition.
The incident comes amid heightened regional tensions following renewed Iranian attacks targeting Gulf states.
