On Friday, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, donated 50 million Qatari riyals ($14 million) to the earthquake-affected people in Turkey and Syria.
The volume of donations in the "Awn Wa Sanad " relief campaign for those affected by the earthquake in the two countries, via live broadcast on Qatar TV, until 16:15 (GMT), amounted to 66 million Qatari riyals (about $18 million).
An earthquake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria, at dawn on Monday, with a magnitude of 7.7, followed by other hours later with a magnitude of 7.6 and hundreds of violent aftershocks, which left huge losses of lives and property in both countries.
The death toll from the earthquake that hit Syria and turkey rose to more than 24,000 people.
