Putin, Uzbek Counterpart Discuss Boosting Bilateral Co-op

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Uzbek counterpart, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, stressed the desire to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, especially in energy field.

"This came during a phone call between Putin and Mirziyoyev, where they also stressed the need to increase trade exchange and expand mutually beneficial cooperation," the Kremlin's press office said in a statement.

On Tuesday, the Russian President made a phone call with his Kazakh counterpart, Qasim Jomart Tokayev, where they discussed issues of practical cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including energy and fuel.

On the other hand, the Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and African Countries, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed with Syria's ambassador to Moscow, Bashar al-Jaafari, developments in Syria.

In a statment, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the two sides discussed during the meeting the overall situation in and around Syria, in accordance with the principles of its unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty.
