Putin Unveils Huge Gas Deal with China

Russian President Vladimir Putin said today Friday during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing that Russian energy companies have prepared "new and very good solutions" for supplying China with energy resources.

"Our (Russian) oil officials have prepared very good new solutions for the supply of energy resources to China, I mean a new contract for the supply of gas to China from the Far East of Russia with a volume of 10 billion cubic meters annually," the Russian president said.

"The relations between Russia and China have acquired an unprecedented dimension, as the two countries support each other's development," Putin added.

Noteworthy, Putin held a meeting with Xi ahead of the opening of the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, marking Xi’s first face-to-face meeting with a world leader in nearly two years. The two leaders will attend the Olympic opening ceremony in the evening.
