Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump discussed the current international situation, ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries, and the possibility of potential contacts between representatives of both nations in the coming period during a phone call.

Yury Ushakov, aide to the Russian President, stated today—as reported by the Russian news agency Sputnik—that the telephone conversation took place in an atmosphere he described as "friendly and candid."

Regarding the Ukrainian crisis, Ushakov reported that US President Donald Trump emphasized during the call the necessity of halting military operations to end the conflict.

Trump also expressed his readiness to influence European partners and Kyiv to reach a settlement to the crisis, noting that he would address this file during the upcoming talks at the G7 summit.

Ushakov also conveyed the Russian President's stance toward the Ukrainian leadership, noting that Putin clarified: "If Volodymyr Zelensky initiates a meeting with the Russian President again, he must go to Moscow."

On the Iranian file, Trump assured his counterpart Putin that reaching an agreement with Iran was difficult but ultimately led to an acceptable outcome.

The Russian presidential aide added that both sides expressed their satisfaction with containing the conflict surrounding Iran, which could have ignited tensions across the entire region and beyond.

Ushakov further mentioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not hide his deep appreciation for Donald Trump’s "fighting qualities," his high resilience in facing difficulties, his success in overcoming obstacles, and his perseverance in pursuing his goals.
