Russian President Vladimir Putin will make an official visit to India in December, the Kremlin confirmed Friday, as Moscow and New Delhi deepen their partnership amid Western sanctions.
Before that trip, Putin is set to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a regional summit in China on Monday, September 1.
The United States recently imposed tariffs on Indian goods in response to New Delhi’s large-scale purchases of Russian oil, part of Washington’s pressure campaign to cut Moscow’s revenues during its ongoing war in Ukraine.
Russia continues to stand as one of India’s main defense suppliers, with ties between the two nations stretching back to the Soviet era.
