Moscow is preparing for the arrival of a senior U.S. delegation on Wednesday evening ahead of a scheduled meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. envoy Wetekov on Thursday afternoon, at 2 p.m. Moscow time, according to Alqahera News.
Reporter Hussein Mashik said the American team, which includes Senator Marco Rubio and envoy Wetekov — and may also be joined by Jared Kushner — is expected to present new information related to the progress of U.S.–Ukrainian talks. Diplomatic sources suggest Washington intends to brief Moscow on the latest stages of its negotiations with Kyiv, setting the groundwork for potential discussions on fresh understandings regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine.
According to Russian analysts cited in the report, Moscow has signaled that it welcomes any diplomatic initiative that could open a window toward a political solution. However, the Kremlin maintains that the terms recently outlined by U.S. President Donald Trump remain insufficient to meet Russia’s core strategic interests.
The high-profile visit comes amid renewed international efforts to explore possible off-ramps to the conflict, now approaching its third year.
