Putin to Biden: Imposing New Sanctions over Ukraine Would Be 'Colossal Mistake'

The Kremlin expressed its satisfaction with the outcomes of the phone call that took place, Thursday evening, between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden.

The Kremlin said in its statement that Russian President Putin had told his US counterpart Biden that imposing new sanctions over Ukraine could lead to a complete breakdown in relations.

In a phone call late on Thursday, the Russian president said such sanctions would be a "colossal mistake".

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said the call created a "good backdrop" for future talks.
