Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Sunday that Russia is prepared to normalize relations with the United States and other Western nations, but not at the expense of Russia's interests.
In response to a question about the possibility of restoring ties between Russia and the U.S., Putin stated in a press interview: "It is possible to achieve anything based on willingness. We have never abandoned this desire."
The Russian president emphasized that while international relations evolve, national interests remain constant, saying, "In this case, the interests of Russia and its people are paramount."
He added, "If we observe changes in the situation that create opportunities and prospects for building relationships with other nations, we are ready for that. This is not a matter of our stance, but theirs. However, it must be without compromising the interests of the Russian Federation."
